Project Brief
Down to Defend, a West Michigan nonprofit supporting families with children born with Down syndrome, initially reached out to create a recap video for their annual gala. What started as a simple recap video evolved into a deeper opportunity to engage attendees and connect them to the mission.
The final project included a short narrative, Amanda’s Story, which played during the gala to create an emotional connection with the audience. In addition, a high-energy recap video captured the spirit of the evening, thanking supporters and energizing future outreach efforts.
This project showcases how events can be transformed into powerful storytelling moments, strengthening connections within the community.
Amanda's Story
In this heartfelt video, Amanda opens up about the challenges of parenting a child with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and the lifelong vulnerabilities individuals with IDD face as they grow. Her Celebration Basket story is more than just a gesture of kindness—it’s a powerful reminder that no family walks this journey alone. Behind every thoughtful gift is a strong, supportive community ready to uplift and empower.
Arabian Nights Gala Recap

The “Arabian Nights” gala wasn’t just about celebrating a successful evening—it was about telling a deeper story. It was a chance to thank those who made it possible and to showcase the people, moments, and heart that drive the mission forward.
